About the programme
Catalysing women-led enterprises for a greener Kiambu
The IYBA WE4A (Investing in Young Businesses in Africa — Women Entrepreneurship for Africa) programme is a Multi-Donor Action Team Europe initiative co-financed by the European Union, the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through the BMZ-funded Employment Promotion for Women for the Green Transformation in Africa (WE4D) project, through the collaboration of local Entrepreneurship Support Organisations (ESOs).
The WomenBiz Growth Programme will be implemented under E4Impact Africa Foundation. E4Impact is implementing the IYBA WE4A programme under the WomenBiz Growth Programme to contribute to sustainable, inclusive and green economic growth in Kiambu County, Kenya. Its specific focus is on strengthening the economic empowerment and financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs operating in sectors that contribute to the green transformation. The programme seeks to strengthen the capacities and growth of women-led enterprises while contributing to employment creation and the retention of existing jobs.

We are inviting applications from eligible women-led businesses to participate in a business growth and capacity-building programme designed to equip entrepreneurs with practical knowledge, skills, tools, and networks to strengthen and scale their businesses.

Eligibility Criteria
We’re looking for women-led businesses ready to grow. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements.
Based in Kiambu County
The business must be based and operational in Kiambu County at the time of application.
Women-owned and/or women-led
A woman must be actively involved in the management and decision-making of the enterprise.
Operating in a green sector
Sustainable Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, Waste Management, or Eco-Tourism.
0–3 years in operation
The business must have been operational for 0–3 years at the time of application.
KSh 200,000+ annual revenue
The business must generate at least KSh 200,000 in annual revenue. Evidence may be required.
An established product or service
With identifiable customers and evidence of ongoing business activity.
Demonstrated growth potential
Ability to increase revenues, access new markets, create jobs, or introduce new products and services.
Full commitment to the programme
Willingness and availability to participate fully in training, coaching, mentorship and networking activities.
